'Valigia' Floor or Table Lamp by Ettore Sottsass for Stilnovo
Originally designed in 1977, the Valigia exemplies the playful concepts and geometry of Memphis Style. Executed in curved black matte metal atop a glossy red frame, the lamp is meant to be taken anywhere: 'valigia' means 'suitcase' in Italian. The downward light source comes from a single bulb reflecting off the glossy white interior shade. The lamp body, joints and bulb holder are black painted metal atop red powder-coated steel legs. The lamp's side is stamped. A statement piece of design history, the Valigia lamp adds Memphis Style and character to any interior.
