For centuries, famed Hida artisans in Gifu prefecture have played a role in Japan's woodworking culture, crafting iconic bentwood furniture from sustainable local forests. Established in 1920, Hida Sangyo builds upon the Japanese heritage of craftsmanship and sustainability from their headquarters in Gifu, which remains one of Japan's leading furniture production areas. In addition to offering iconic designs from midcentury masters like Sori Yanagi and Enzo Mari, Hida produces contemporary creations from international designers such as Atsuhiko Misawa and atelier oï.
Designed by Motomi Kawakami to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Hida Sangyo, the 'Seoto-Ex' chair represents the pinnacle of Hida's woodworking expertise that has been faithfully developed over the previous century. A fusion of robust construction and beautiful clean lines, the 'Seoto-Ex' features a carved seat and gently curved backrest. Developed in conjunction with academia and medical professionals the 'Seoto-Ex' promotes healthy posture while minimizing fatigue, making this the ideal chair for home and office. Please note that the wood's grain, color and features vary from item to item due to the organic nature of the material.
Price per item. Available to order in unlimited quantities in choice of walnut, oak or beech and paired with a natural oil or stain finish - please specify when ordering. SHIPPING NOT INCLUDED: In order to facilitate the most accurate shipping quote on Hida pieces, the buyer will be invoiced directly by Hida for the actual shipping cost once ordered items have been fabricated. Buyer is responsible for all customs duties, fees and import taxes as well as the removal and disposal of packing materials.
