'Kooi' Glass and Die-Cast Aluminum Suspension Lamp for KDLN

Designed by Studio Shuu and produced by KDLN, the superlative 'Kooi' suspension lamp is inspired by the shan shui style of Chinese painting and conveys its philosophy: capturing nature's inner reality and completeness. The contrast between the mouth-blown transparent glass diffuser and the die-cast aluminum frame creates lights and shadows that become the protagonists of continuous visual effects and unprecedented shifts of perspective. Glass meets metal and contrasting materials coalesce into a striking interplay of light and shadow. The shan shui spirit becomes a suspension lamp.

Tradition and future, utility and sensitivity, humans and the environment – the creative desire to unite polar opposites is what drives designers Limin Wang and Xiaoyi Lu of Studio Shuu in Munich. Both graduated from the Pforzheim University in Transportation Design. Their creations are characterized by clarity and poetry. The two designers seek to rethink and redefine value, identity and beauty through their work.

Illuminated via integrated LED module providing 25W of 2700k color with a maximum 2750

a black canopy by metal wire and powered by a black cord with a maximum drop of 70 inches.
