1950s Hans Bergström Model E1271 Perforated Metal & Brass Table Lamp for ASEA.
Executed in painted perforated metal shade with attractively patinated brass legs. A lyrical and elegant Scandinavian modern design with a sculptural form characteristic of the finest work of the era, attributed to Hans Bergström for ASEA. Retains original paint. Unmarked.
Hans Bergström was a Swedish lighting designer and entrepreneur. He was born in Stockholm in 1910 and grew up in a family of artists and designers. After completing secondary school in 1927, he worked for several years at the Ystad-Metall metal manufactory in Ystad, where he designed lamps, mirrors, bottles, jars, and bowls. In 1934 he established his own lighting firm, ateljé Lyktan, which still manufactures designer pieces to this day.
