1950s Luigi Caccia Dominioni Large 'LP 10' Wall Lights for Azucena

4,789.00

1950s Luigi Caccia Dominioni 'LP 10' wall light for Azucena. Exceptionally rare original edition executed in architectural brass and opaline glass, Italy, circa 1958. An incomparable design of sculptural quality from a celebrated and coveted design icon (and at 103, a living legend).

A pioneer in the field of industrial design, the award winning architect and designer Luigi Caccia Dominioni was born in Milan, Italy. His designs are part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. In 1947, he founded Azucena with a group of other young Milanese architects including Corrado Corradi Dell'Acqua, Ignazio Gardella, and Maria Teresa. The name Azucena (borrowed from the gypsy in 'Il Trovatore' who is torn between motherly and daughterly love) encapsulates this legendary Milanese company's design philosophy. Azucena is a startling synthesis of rational mass production and refined craftsmanship.
