Poul Henningsen 'PH 4½-4' Glass Pendants for Louis Poulsen.
The 'PH 4½ - 4' glass pendant light is a member of the 'PH' 3-shade family which was originally conceived by Poul Henningsen in the winter of 1925-1926 for a large exhibition hall in Copenhagen, Denmark called "Forum". The 'PH' 3-shade family is based on the principle of a reflecting multi-shade system, creating a harmonious and glare-free illumination. The shades are drawn over a logarithmic spiral, with the center of the light source placed in the spiral's focal point.
Executed in high luster chrome plated extruded aluminum, the PH 4½ - 4 glass pendant light features mouth blown white opal glass shades, which have been sandblasted on the undersides for even, glare-free light distribution.
