Pair of 1960s VGK Van Keppel & Green Outdoor Lounge Chairs.

Hendrik Van Keppel and Taylor Green, both born in California in 1914, went on to create one of the most influential industrial design firms, Van Keppel-Green. Their journey began in the 1930s when Hendrik, living in San Francisco, designed a chair from scrap iron, which a blacksmith helped him fabricate. He wrapped it with marine cord he bought in the Embarcadero. This project marked his first documented effort to merge nature with architecture, resulting in a groundbreaking prototype of indoor-outdoor furniture—a pivotal moment in industrial design history.

The 'VGK' lounge chairs are one of the rarer examples of their pioneering work. This set remains in beautiful vintage condition with an attractive patina. Unmarked.

Price is for the pair.

Some age-appropriate scuffs, dings, bends, rust, tears and patina as largely shown and noted only for accuracy. Please note that only one representative example is shown in photos, but both chairs are in comparably good condition and present well as a pair. Also note that one cord is broken on one of the two chairs, as pictured in the images. Additional images available upon request.
