Painted BeechHans J. Wegner 'CH24 Wishbone' Chair for Carl Hansen & Son.

The story of Danish Modern begins in 1908 when Carl Hansen opened his first workshop. His commitment to beauty, comfort, refinement, and craftsmanship is evident in iconic pieces designed by such legends as Hans J. Wegner, Arne Jacobsen, Kaare Klint, Poul Kjærholm, Vilhelm Lauritzen and others. Now in its third generation as a family run business, Carl Hansen & Son maintains its legacy through skillful work with the highest quality materials, sustainably producing Danish design classics by past icons and influential new designers.

With a form uniquely its own, Hans J. Wegner's 'CH24 Wishbone' chair embodies iconic Midcentury design. Expertly crafted with more than 100 steps, the 'CH24 Wishbone' beautifully combines the back and armrest into a single piece. To ensure comfortable support, Wegner developed the characteristic Y-shaped back with which this chair's name is derived from. The handwoven seat consists of 120 meters of papercord which contributes to this chair's satisfying aesthetic as well as its comfort & stability. The completed design highlights the core of Wegner's legacy, showcasing the inner soul of furniture pieces through a simple and functional exterior. Executed in FSC-certified beech wood. Papercord available in black or natural.
