Arne Jacobsen 'AJ Royal' Pendant for Louis Poulsen
Designed in 1960 by Arne Jacobsen for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, the 'AJ Royal' is an icon that epitomizes Jacobsen's overall geometric shape concept. The spherical dome shape is simple yet complex. The circular ringed louvers on top provide a glow while still maintaining a clean domed shape.
The 'AJ Royal' is executed with a wet painted spun aluminum shade, steel rings, and a frosted acrylic diffuser. The classic, graphic look of the 'AJ Royal' is characterized by the iconic ridges on top that allow a gentle light to exude upwards. The acrylic opaline diffuser ensures even and flawless downward directed light, perfect for use at a dining table, in an office, or showroom.
